“Awwww, Syd,” she says,
Planting a gentle kiss on her sister’s tiny head.
Calming her,
Soothing this fussy newcomer
With whom she must share her greatest loves.
Never once blaming her tiny lookalike
For hours of playing alone
Or sleep interrupted by the sounds
Of what surely must be a small raptor.
She glows,
Proud of her ability to quiet the baby,
Glad to be able to help.
May this moment remain,
Shining out from under sleepless nights
And days of tantrums and tears.
A reminder of the gift they are to one another,

Don’t mind me, I’ll just be that melted puddle on the floor.

This is so beautiful! Your girls are adorable and I love the sibling bond. My hubby and I want to have another baby but it’s been a struggle. Hearing about this makes me even more motivated to keep trying! I know having a newborn is incredibly difficult and exhausting but you’re very lucky to have these two little peanuts. Just precious. 🙂

I won’t lie. It’s hard. Hella hard. But more wonderful than hard. So wonderful.
